Simply Speaking Great Business Coaches & Executive Coaches Measure the Inches, Not the Yards
The goal of executive coaches and business coaches is help their clients reach that next level of success. To be able to achieve that goal is being able to excite their performance and to overcome both internal and external obstacles.
Recently, I viewed a DVD that in 4 short minutes described what happens when very hot water at 211 degrees increases by one degree to 212 degrees. The hot water turns to boiling water and boiling water as we all know turns to steam. Steam fuels turbines and engines that produce additional power. The video went on to describe the incredible possibilities if everyone just turned up the heat by one degree.
The only downside to this excellent DVD is that it presumes that most people are at 211 degrees or very near 211 degrees. Getting to the point of being very hot water is as difficult if not more so than gaining one more degree to become boiling water. The performance gap between where the person is now and 211 degrees is what business coaches and executive coaches through their proven processes (solutions) help to close.
What I have observed is that many people are much closer to 33 to 50 degrees than to 200-211 degrees. They are not frozen, but close to it. Due to years of negative conditioning, they have been turned into individuals who subconsciously embrace misery before joy. The thought of gaining more than 160 degrees has already defeated them before they even begin.
This is where the effective business coaches and executive coaches begin to work with their clients by employing what I call the inch by inch approach. For me, this means training my clients how to use a proven goal planning, goal setting and goal achieving process. My clients learn by doing and from doing they become goal achievers. Their results build success and success breeds success. Each success is another inch or another degree. Soon that goal of over 4.5 yards (160 inches) is achieved because inch by inch is a cinch, but yard by yard is very hard.
